Lens Artists Challenge: Surprise

Lens Artists Challenge #103: Surprise

~~~
I am often surprised when I transfer the photos from my camera card to my laptop. The images I remember from clicking away do not always coincide with the actual results. Sometimes this is disappointing, but often I am pleasantly surprised…sort of like that excitement on Christmas morning as a child. Or opening the mystery treasure box with a special key in the gift shop at a local restaurant after dinner.
When I took the following photo, I focused on the lamp’s reflection in the window, but the resulting image morphed into the trees instead.
I actually like this one better than what I originally had in mind.
Then there was the rain pounding on our living room windows early one evening last week.
Raindrops! Photo!
I thought I was standing far enough to the side to avoid my own reflection. In the camera’s viewfinder it looked like I was. However…
Surprise!
I had to look twice, but…there it was. Do you see it?
And last but not least…
During a quick dash down the frozen food aisle of a local grocery store, I glanced up…and ahead of me…on display at the end of an extensive beer display…
Surprise!
Since this discovery, I have seen the beer bear (now wearing a mask) also promoting chips, crackers and boxes of cookies.
Yogi would have been jealous.
Photo a Week – Shimmer
Nancy Merrill is hosting a photo challenge. The theme this week – Shimmer
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) THAT SHIMMER.
Once again I am able to share a photo from my favorite beach. Taken during a solo vacation many years ago. Where I enjoyed warm weather, sunshine and long walks along the water’s edge. No schedule except for one of my choosing…including photo opportunities I couldn’t resist.
Sparkly sand. Sun. Water. Waves.
A more recent walk…not so warm. Early Spring in New England.
A local pond still holding a partial sheet of ice.
The late afternoon sun still doing its amazing thing…
A Photo a Week Challenge: Reflection
Nancy Merrill Photography is hosting a photo challenge:
The theme this week is: Reflection.
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR MORE) OF REFLECTIONS.
Two years ago my husband and I rented a small condo across the street from a short stretch of the Atlantic Ocean. It was only for 3 months while waiting. Waiting to sell our house. Waiting for our new condo to be finished. So we could move on to the next phase of our lives.
My favorite part of that hectic time was walking up and down the beach in the late afternoon. Especially at low tide. It was off season (October through December) and I often had that stretch of beach to myself. It was glorious.
Peaceful alone time.
At 3:58 pm – on December 1st – I caught these moments.
The setting sun reflecting off sand…sky…clouds and surf.
Here are three photos in sequence – taken within 2 minutes…
Tuesday Photo Challenge – Reflection
Here is my entry for this week’s challenge hosted by “Dutch goes the Photo.”
The theme this week is “Reflection”
Many years ago, on a solo visit to Coronado, California, I captured this close-up moment of reflection…as the waves rolled out over the sand…
On my favorite beach.
On a beautiful sunny day in June.
Where the uniquely colored sand just sparkles.
If I didn’t know better, I would have guessed I had struck gold.
