The last time I was able to visit my family in Washington DC was this past February. Four days with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. A dinner out with my son. Memories made.

It was right before the pandemic exploded onto the scene here in the United States.

Little did I know on this beautiful moonlit night that I wouldn’t be able to see my kids again for many months to come.

Two of a Kind

This pair of three year old feet were two of a silly kind during a memorable FaceTime moment last year.

Dinner Time Shenanigans

First…one bare foot appeared and propped itself up on the table…then disappeared at Mama’s gentle request…

Seconds later, it returned when mama looked away.

Disappeared again.

Then back in a flash.

Grandma (me) started giggling.

Then foot number 2 joined the fun.

Mama gave up.

And…as we all know…laughter is contagious.

Lake Champlain – June, 2019

Thanks to the kindness of dear “old” friends, I enjoyed this view across Lake Champlain last year. I was treated to a peek at the Adirondack Mountains of New York while waiting for a sunset one evening…during a relaxing weekend visit at their summer home in Vermont.

Hopefully next summer it will be safe to return.

Silly Business

Life with a 2 year old provides a perfect opportunity for Supreme Silliness. One of the many benefits of parenthood.

This image from 36 (!) years ago popped into my mind when I saw the topic for this week’s challenge. It took a while to locate…and the print quality isn’t the greatest…but it’s proof positive that Groucho nose glasses never made anybody grouchy in our house!

Where’s the beach?

Hampton Beach, NH

It was a hot day last September when I parked the car in the state beach lot – looking forward to a nice long walk along the sand. I stopped for a moment next to the restrooms and glanced toward the beach.

Except where was the beach exactly? At first glance, I was reminded of Maria at the opening of “The Sound of Music.” The hills are alive and all that.

Thankfully, in my case, these hills weren’t those kind of hills…but alive all the same, as they were roped off to protect the endangered Piping Plover population.

Fortunately, a sandy walking path – a short walk to the ocean – was just around the corner.

The plant came back…

One Word Sunday: Inspiration

~~~
The wooded area in back of my condo is kind of a mess in spots. Partially nature’s way…broken branches…matted leaves…trees felled by disease and high winds.
And partially human caused.
Apparently it has become the final resting place for potted plants which have seen better days. Or plants their owners have given up on. I don’t completely understand that…as I still have a philodendron from 1978.
However…today as I was making my way back from a walk on this bright & beautiful afternoon, I noticed the plant dumping ground had a lone come-back-to-life stem of flowers showing off in the sun.
Very inspiring…
