IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO OF SOME OF THE EYES IN YOUR LIFE.
My daughter was born with the bluest of eyes…which opened and stared into mine within minutes of her arrival. Her curiosity for life already beginning.
Those eyes…she would hold your gaze – even as an infant – without changing expression, as if seriously contemplating the words to follow. Before she knew how to say a thing.
Her right eyebrow arching ever so slightly…posing a silent question we couldn’t possibly know the answer to…

The things that matter most are not things. At least not to me.
I have heard it said that when you are on your deathbed, you don’t wish you had spent more time at work. More often it is…I wish I had spent more time with my family.
My friends. My kids. My grandparents.
The “things” that matter most to me are the family and friends I love and care about.
And who love and care about me.
What else matters?
That I am fortunate enough to have a roof over my head and enough food to eat.
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO OF THINGS LIT FROM WITHIN.
One of my favorite Christmas decorations/ornaments is a “lit from within” glass globe featuring an angel inside. A special gift from a special friend a few years ago.
It can either be hung from a tree branch or placed on a flat surface. In our case, this year the flat surface is perfect…since we are not putting up a tree for the first time in over 40 years. Empty nesters that we are, we are flying from the nest to celebrate with our hosting-for-the-holiday adult children.
In the meantime…this Angel will rest on our mantel and continuously spread Christmas cheer with a flick of a switch.

While taking a walk on a bright, sunny day in late September, I was distracted by a very large swarm of butterflies. Stopping me in my tracks.
They were accompanied by a few bees – all flying in and amongst wild asters growing next to the walking path. I had never seen so many Monarch butterflies at one time. Busy, busy, busy!
Fortunately they didn’t seem to mind my presence as I snapped multiple photos trying my best not to interrupt their important work.
A few in the group perched still enough for this photo!

What do you do when you are delayed for 5 hours on a flight home? Exhausted in a happy satisfied way after spending 3 days with one very adorable 2 year old.
Take photos at the airport!
Specifically, the main corridors for departures at Reagan National Airport. After getting my boarding pass – and noting the delay – I took a few photos for this prompt.
Before taking the escalator down to the next level, I stood behind the middle panel pictured in the last photo.
From Above: at the entry level looking straight down…
The glass windows are decorated all along the corridor.
From Above: looking down and straight across.
The railings on the upper level (where I came in) are designed with colorful panels and this “From Below” photo was taken while looking up from the set of 4 chairs in the “From above” photos.
From Below
Then…
Down the corridor.
Passed through security.
And here I wait at the gate.
IN A NEW POST CREATED FOR THIS CHALLENGE, SHARE A PHOTO OR TWO (OR THREE…) OF BRIDGES.
I inherited hundreds of my grandfather’s color slides.
Many of the slides were taken at family events, but many were from his trips to Europe, India and throughout the USA. He documented everything. Business trips. Personal adventures. With 8mm home movies as well. He was an ultra tourist. And thoroughly enjoyed travel. By air. By train. By car.
A few years ago I looked through all of his slides, but was dismayed that most were not labeled.
These are “Mystery Bridges” from the 1940’s (or very early 1950’s) Europe.
If anyone out there in blogging land knows where these photos were taken, please feel free to comment! I am very curious.

Two years ago my husband and I rented a small condo across the street from a short stretch of the Atlantic Ocean. It was only for 3 months while waiting. Waiting to sell our house. Waiting for our new condo to be finished. So we could move on to the next phase of our lives.
My favorite part of that hectic time was walking up and down the beach in the late afternoon. Especially at low tide. It was off season (October through December) and I often had that stretch of beach to myself. It was glorious.
Peaceful alone time.
At 3:58 pm – on December 1st – I caught these moments.
The setting sun reflecting off sand…sky…clouds and surf.
Here are three photos in sequence – taken within 2 minutes…
