It certainly looks like this tree fought long and hard during its demise. I discovered its stump along the way during a recent walk in the woods. I’m not sure why the tree was cut down, but whenever I see something like this I always wonder what it lived through. Those rings signify age, but that’s all I know.
Every tree has a story…just like us.

I wonder if this poor tree’s story isn’t that they were stuck by lightning? That’s the first thought I had when I saw the split down the middle.

I always wonder, too. I met some very old trees and knew them in the last years of their lives and knew them after they had fallen. I wished I could have talked with them
