Lens-Artists Challenge #111: Everyday Objects
…we’re challenging you to take another look at everyday objects and see them from a new perspective…
~~~
It’s not often one admires a vase without the flowers or single bud on display. But this vase does fine all alone. It originally belonged to my mother-in-law (a gift from my husband to her years before I knew him). I am glad we saved it. It reminds me of her.
~~~~~~
This pie pan had been my mother’s, but originally was passed down to her from her grandmother. If I remember correctly. Add in the peeler and corer and you’re halfway (well almost halfway) to making an apple pie.

Last but not least…going way back in the way-back machine…these are my wristwatches. I’ve been wearing a watch since I was at least 5 years old beginning with this Mickey Mouse watch. I don’t imagine I could really tell time when I first wore it, but the significance of knowing the time took root in my psyche. Which Mickey has frozen forever at 6:36.
The watch I wear now is a simple Timex with one of those twistable bands. Every few years I need a new one, but otherwise it does what it’s supposed to do. I glance down and know the time.
It is truly my most “everyday object.”
Love your Mickey watch. I had one very similar.

Great watches! Poor Mickey, frozen in time. I stopped wearing them long ago because of the bands pulling the hair on my arms.

Thanks! Ouch, yes that can be a problem with those bands.

Love the sentimental value of your choices this week OLU. That vase is really lovely. As for watches, I received a beautiful Rolex as an award many years ago. I’ve had it repaired twice and each time I’ve thought I could have bought 4 or 5 Timex’s for what the repairs cost, never mind the watch! I’ve repaired it for the last time, that’s for sure!!! Now I wear a Versa smartwatch which cost $100 or so and I love it! 😀. The Rolex sits in the drawer

Thank you Tina. That vase is a favorite. And I’ve always had good luck with the Timex watches – the style has stayed relatively constant. And you’re right about the cost part (and it never ends up in a drawer!) A smartwatch is tempting though 🙂.

LOVE the vase, looks like cobalt blue beneath the white, which is one of my fave blues. The time pieces are interesting…I’m wondering if there is significance to “6:36” in the grand scheme of things…

Thank you! I love it too – It is a cobalt shade of blue. Ooooh, I never thought of the significance of the 6:36. I am now intrigued. Food for thought.

Maybe I watch too much “Twilight Zone”…in reference to a clock stopped at 6:36 🙂 But I dare say it’s food for a story!

This is lovely. The vase in particular just quietly sits there beautifully.

Thank you. And there it remains – as it seems quite at home on our mantle. 🙂

The vase and picture are both lovely, but the pie pan stole my heart.

Ohhh, OLU. The light in your first shot is wonderful! I love how it hits the blue vase. Stunning! And Mickey made me smile.

Thank you Patti. When the light is just right, that vase almost glows! Glad Mickey brought you a smile too 🙂 (these are times I’m glad I held onto the “old stuff”)
