Inspired by Sunshine’s Macro Monday #23
~~~
Root vegetables galore covered the tables at a local indoor farmers’ market a few months ago.
I don’t usually buy fresh beets at the grocery store.
However, this time I thought…why not?
Look at all those colors!
Odd looking, is it supposed to look like this? 🤔
That’s what it/they looked like! They were also smaller than commercially available beets.
They remind me of radishes, so yummy. 🥰
I love beets. We wrap them in foil and bake them – less mess and so good.
Now that’s a really good idea! Thank you! My roasting method did not do them justice.
They make for a lovely macro shot. I need to start taking a closer look at veggies. 😊
Thank you! Veggies can be a photo opportunity as well as being nutritious 🙂
I can’t tell if it’s a beet or the strangest, most exotic beetle I’ve ever seen!
Well that’s an interpretation I hadn’t thought of! It wasn’t a typical looking beet (from my experience), but it inspired a photograph. 🙂
I love beets! Steamed with butter and salt. Is that still healthy? My doctor told me that beet juice daily is a way to naturally lower blood pressure. So I drink a glass every day. I like the organic kind, no sweeteners. What did you do with your beets?
I cut them up and roasted them, but next time I will do it differently. They dried up too much. A little butter and salt sounds good 🙂
I don’t know if I’d like them roasted as much. Moist, buttery, salty beets – or pickled are my favorite!
Sliced. Steamed. Butter and a generous squeeze of lime juice!
Yum!!!
Beautiful shot!
I’m a beet fan too 🙂 Usually just get the cans of pickled ones, but your other readers have me thinking I could buy fresh and cook them satisfactorily. Thanks!
Good idea! Fresh cooked are really delicious. All together different than canned.
